From Jan 21st - Jan 23rd our @tweepler account went from 13 followers to 516 within a period of 48 hours, all without us seeking out people to follow, hoping for a return follow. They found us first!
What people are saying.
So how the heck did we do it?
- We created an application that many would love and would find useful. We spent time making it user friendly and easy on the eyes. We valued and implemented the feedback from our private beta testers. We planned for an actual launch and did some marketing prior to release all for a cost of $0.
- Tech Crunch got the scoop early on and wanted to do a blog post about the app. The post by @robinwauters was a hit, had a lot of comments and from this spawned lots of other blog posts. @techcrunch also sent out a tweet when the blog post went live which created a whole wave of retweets by Crunch lovers.
- Prior to launch we brought on 18 key influencers as sponsors. We gave them ad space in our Sponsors rotator in exchange for helping us get the word out. Across these sponsors we had a reach of about 120,000 followers. They did a great job and there was lots of buzz on Twitter and a ton of retweets. There were actually over 1000 tweets with a mention of tweepler in our first 2 days. Thank you everyone
- @mashable and @ryancarson mentioned us in one of their tweets which once again brought a lot of visitors our way in a short period of time.
- We added in a viral mechanism to the application where if people liked our service they could send a tweet right from the application. This got a lot of attention and we had a lot of new people discover the app this way. Those that chose not to use this still tweeted about it and thousands of other followers seen these tweets.
- We responded to support emails and support tweets instantly as they came in and we interacted with our users from day one at a more personal level vs corporate. We listened!
